Go behind the scenes at St Lucia’s only rum distillery, St Lucia Distillers, on this tour from Castries. With a knowledgeable guide, learn about the process of turning sugarcane into rum, and enjoy tastings of some of the distillery’s 25+ rums and rum products, from white rum to spiced rum to flavored rum creams. Plus, enjoy views of lush banana plantations and Marigot Bay on the drive from Castries.

After hotel pickup in Castries, head to St Lucia Distillers, about 7 miles (11 km) south of town near Marigot Bay. Enjoy views of Morne Fortune and surrounding banana plantations along the way.

When you arrive at the distillery, meet your guide — a ‘Rum Ambassador’ — who will lead you through your rum experience. Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the distillery, getting a look at the rum-making process and learning about the many different brands of rum that are made here, including premium brands like 1931 and Admiral Rodney, Chairman’s Reserve Spiced Rum, Crystal White Rum, and Marigot Bay Liqueurs in flavors like coconut and chocolate orange.

Next, visit the ‘rum buffet,’ where you can taste up to 17 of the different rums and rum liqueurs on display; additional premium rums are sometimes available for tasting upon request, so just ask your guide. Then purchase any of your favorites to take home!

Your tour ends with hotel drop-off in Castries.

Take a trip back in time to the 18th Century on Morne Coubaril's grand estate. Enjoy stepping back into time viewing the replica stick huts once used by villagers. See and taste all the processes for coconut, cocoa and sugar over the course of this 1 hour tour.

Start your tour after meeting your guide at the predetermined location. Make your way through a small village of replica stick huts similar to those used two centuries ago by local villagers. The gardens around offer close-up views of the more popular local flora. The professional guide will then lead you through the medicinal herbal garden where you will learn about nature's own healing remedies. The grandeur of the Monplaisir family's estate house will be next on the list. Take plenty of photos before the next demonstration.

For the next activity, the guide will explain the process of dehusking a coconut to you. Learn how to dry the copra in your oven before enjoying a taste of coconut water and jelly. After enjoying the bay view from the point, you will have the opportunity to taste a ripe cocoa bean at the cocoa and coffee house. Watch the process of fermentation, bean drying, and the cocoa dance used to polish the dried beans. End the tour after visiting the mule driven sugar cane mill with a tasting of fresh cane juice.
